Lawrence Municipal Airport Reconstruction

TERRA provided comprehensive environmental consulting services for Lawrence Municipal Airport, located at 492 Sutton Street in North Andover, MA. The airport, established in 1934 and owned by the City of Lawrence, accommodates a full range of aircraft from single-engine planes to jets and helicopters, with over 200 based aircraft. The facility features two paved and lighted runways (main runway 5/23 at 5001 feet with ILS, secondary runway 14/32 at 3655 feet), five connecting taxiways, and a large terminal parking ramp with 24-hour fuel services.


TERRA delivered integrated environmental solutions including PFAS assessment and management, health and safety monitoring, and Licensed Site Professional (LSP) services. Responsibilities encompassed managing all technical, operational, and staffing aspects of the environmental project phases, from pre-characterization activities through contaminated materials removal and proper disposal coordination.


PFAS assessment and contamination management with comprehensive soil screening and analysis: Pre-characterization activities, systematic soil sampling, and laboratory analysis to identify and characterize PFAS contamination conditions at the airport facility


Licensed Site Professional (LSP) services and environmental regulatory compliance: Complete LSP oversight ensuring compliance with Massachusetts environmental regulations and coordinating all regulatory aspects of the remediation project


Contaminated materials removal coordination and proper disposal facility management: Development of disposal packages and on-site coordination for the removal and transport of contaminated materials to appropriately licensed disposal facilities
